2017 AISC Safety Award of Honor

Steel Service is extremely proud to announce we received the 2017 American Institute of Steel Construction Safety Award with Honor. Our DART rate for the entire 2017 year was a zero. DART stands for “days away, restricted or transferred.” This safety metric helps employers determine how many workplace injuries and illnesses required employees to miss work, perform restricted work activities or transfer to another job within a calendar year. Calculating the DART rate allows executives, supervisors and safety personnel to identify safety issues in the workplace.

This is a huge honor to receive in the fabricator category. Steel Service places safety at the highest category in our plant. We are extremely proud of this award and our employees for doing their part to remain safe.

2017 Blair E. Batson Toy Drive

This year we decided to host a toy drive at our office. We encouraged employees to donate toys for the children at Blair E. Batson Children’s Hospital. The toys will be distributed by Santa to the children who are patients and will be at the hospital during the Christmas Holiday. Our employees stepped up big time and brought it so many items.  All the sweet babies that are at the hospital during Christmas will appreciate all the gifts so much. Thank you to everyone who donated towards this great cause for the Children’s Hospital located here in Jackson!

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!

Steel Service receives Award of Excellence

This past week, Steel Service attended Turner Construction’s Annual Subcontractors Award Ceremony in Houston, Texas.  Steel Service received the “Award of Excellence” for the work they completed at Lawson Middle School. This regional award is given to contractors who were nominated by Turner personnel. To be nominated for this award, the contractor has to go above and beyond in their respective roles to help the project become successful. Only a handful of contractors are chosen each year and Steel Service was one of the few recognized.

This is a huge honor for Steel Service to receive. We enjoyed working with Turner Construction and look forward to more projects with them in the future.

2017 Supervisor Safety Training

The supervisors were recognized at our Quarter 2 lunch on July 13, 2017. Steel Service is committed to safety being our #1 priority and we are pleased with our supervisors on doing their part keeping themselves and their fellow co-workers safe.
